Maison Angelot, Bugey Mondeuse, Savoie France 2019
100% Mondeuse
SAVORY AROMATICS, EARTH, CHERRY, & BLACK PEPPER.
In the fun loving Bugey family – which includes the sparkly-sweet cult sensation we know and love – this wine is the dignified cousin who stands in aloof contrast to his hedonistic relatives. Deep and dark with savory spice, and a distinctly old-school structure focused on mouthwatering acidity. It’s still a Bugey, however, so it can’t help but let some purply fruit fun slip through the cracks. Good wine runs thicker than water.
Serving Suggestion: Tomme and Comté cheeses are a natural (and excellent) choice, or heartier Middle Eastern fare, like Lebanese-style eggplant stuffed with lamb, tomato, and cinnamon.
