Approximately 45 miles north of the Russian River Valley AVA, the McFadden family’s Blue Quail vineyards cling to the wine-famous river’s East Fork as it makes its way south, toward more familiar Sonoma haunts. The estate deals almost exclusively in grape varieties associated with Burgundy and Alsace. This sinewy Pinot is vibrant, firm, and evocative of autumn-summer borderlands with ripe yet restrained forest fruit and hard-edged herbal notes – tremendously versatile with food, especially fall fare.
Serving Suggestions: Skin-on braised pheasant & fingerling potatoes w/ garlic, parsley, & black pepper. Pimento cheese-stuffed portobello caps & parsnip fries w/ shallot butter.
