Adega M. Cordeiro, "Encosta do Vale Galego" 3 Castas, Tejo, Portugal 2012
{sustainable} 50% Tempranillo/Aragonez/Tinta Roriz, 38% Syrah, 12% Touriga Nacional
DARK FRUIT, DUSTY TANNIN, SUAVE MATURITY, MISSION FIG & HAZELNUT
Manuel Cordeiro’s parents grew grapes and when he retired, he built a small winery behind the family home and bought a promising vineyard to return to that tradition. This is a great example of why Portugal is known for some of the best under the radar wines in Europe; aged lightly in oak and extensively in bottle before release, it reaches a mature complexity rarely found in everyday reds.
Serving Suggestions: Spit-roasted whole hog w/ all the fixins (make sure to grab a bite of crispy skin). Slowly simmered black beans & rice w/ bay leaf, garlic, onion, & peppers.
