Verdicchio has been cultivated here in Marche since at least the 1300’s, and those from the Matelica DOC are known for being more focused, complex, and minerally. If you aren’t familiar, prepare for an experience! A nose full of nutty, almost sherry-like aromas lead into unctuous, savory, rich flavors, perfectly poised against tart acidity and satisfying salinity. Herbaceous and succulently citrusy, this “little green one” is a virtuoso with food.
Serving Suggestions: Pizza w/ pecorino & anchovies. Fresh mozzarella. Crispy gnocchi w/ creamy pesto & roasted veggies. Spaghetti w/ mussels, chili flakes, & garlic.
