Domaine Philémon, Jurançon Noir, Gaillac, Southwest, France 2020
{organic} 100% Jurançon Noir
VIOLETS, PLUM & BLACKBERRY, WET CLAY
Jurançon noir is a relatively rare grape variety grown in the southwest of France, though it finds itself quite at home amongst the many other Gaillac native varieties in Mathieu Vieules’ vineyards. A natural crossing of Folle Blanche and Malbec, you can expect these reds to show sumptuous purple and black fruit, and subtle earthy, floral notes. Here, the wine balances its deep, dark characteristics with freshness and vibrancy, maintaining light body and taking nicely to a chill.
Serving Suggestion: Prosciutto, tomato, and black olive bruschetta. Spice rubbed beef tenderloin on a bed of arugula w/caper vinaigrette. Gorgonzola, fig, and pancetta pizza.
