Chateau de Quincay, Touraine Launay Côt, Loire Valley, France 2022
{organic} 100% Malbec
VIBRANT PLUM & BLACKBERRY, GRAPHITE MINERALITY
Far from its birthplace in Southwest France’s Cahors, Malbec is best known today for its prolific work in Argentina – typically leaning into bold, sometimes brooding intensity and heft. Here in the heart of the Loire Valley, it is better known as Côt. Chateau de Quincay’s 6th generation winemaker, Benoit Cadart, deftly serves up a brighter, cooler-climate rendition of the beloved variety – sensuously silky with lively, refreshing structure.
Serving Suggestion: Deep-fried buffalo sweetbreads topped w/ Point Reyes’ Bay Blue & thinly sliced celery. Char-grilled root vegetable medley w/ crusty sourdough.
