Steindorfer, "Apetlon Rouge", Burgenland, Austria 2021
Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Saint Laurent
INKY PLUM, COCOA AND TOAST. SUMPTUOUS
On the banks of Lake Neusiedl – a warm shallow inland saltwater sea – the town of Apetlon occupies the lowest elevation in all of Austria. Incidentally, it’s also the warmest part of the country, which makes for some seriously ripe red wine grapes and lush wines unique to their little corner of Austria. This juicy, bold offering is based on the emblematic Zweigelt grape, and it’s stern yet loving parents Saint-Laurent and Blaufrankisch. Judicious oak makes for a rich, protein-loving wine.
Serving Suggestion: Farmhand Foods bratwurst with grilled onions and beer mustard on a crunchy roll.
