La Cappuccina, Soave Classico "Monte Stelle", Veneto, Italy, 2021
{organic} Garganega
WHITE PEACH & APRICOT, STONY MINERAL, ORANGE ZEST
Since 1890, the Tessari family has been tending to their estate La Cappuccina, located in the Venetian village Costalunga di Monteforte d’Alpone, for the last four generations. The wine takes its name from their single vineyard site Monte Stelle (meaning star mountain) where 60 year old garganega vines nestle in basalt volcanic soils, imbuing the wine with a faint smoky savoriness. Elegant, angular, and complex, stony mineral and delicate florals give way to savory richness and just-ripe stone fruit.
Serving Suggestion: Baccalà mantecato (Venetian salted, dried cod whipped into a creamy puree). Malfatti in parmesan broth. Lobster and crab ravioli in a lemony browned butter sauce.
